Week eight!
When is spring break??? ..last week? I must have missed it! Oh well what a past couple of weeks! working on all the longer term projects for our classes and bringing home a ton of work. Along with this we have to keep up with out class work. This weeks assignment was on the subject of computational thinking. This is the idea of thinking about solutions so that computer can carry out. The concept was new to me but after diggin in I realized it is somehting I could relate it to some things in my work day.
One way I think have used computsational thinkingin in the past is to solve an issue with our computer managment system. When managin large numbers of deivices automation and consistency are key to productivity. When prparing new out of th equipment or repairing old equipment the distric would manualy do a series of about 50 steps to prepare a device. I have consolidate the steps and automated it with XML, BAT, PS1 and EXE files to make sure there is no room for error and all devices are prepared the same way. As a byproduct time has ben save in set up and in follow up troubleshooting by havbing the computers carry out the steps. I actually think setting it all up was fun and hope ot learn new ways to use other types of "languages" if my work ever calls for it.
