First Post!
What a way to start 2018! I did not expect going back to school to be easy but I did not expect it to be this challenging. So far this class, in particular, was not too bad, hopefully it doesn't get worse. Still getting used to small changes, like using moodle instead of blackboard. Also writing these blogs as weekly reflections should be interesting and another good way to practice and hopefully improve my writing skills which I feel are a bit of a shortcoming. We have done a good amount of submitting and sharing files with the Google suite which is nice, working on a web-based text editor has many advantages. This helps because it provides the flexibility to work on files anytime I have a minute a device with web connectivity. I have noticed that having my work available keeps it on my mind so I can reorganize work or think about ways to improve it, even when I am not actually working on it and just re-reading it from my phone.
We did a binary project this week that had us write out our favorite color in binary. It was fun and a nice low-pressure assignment provided a little positive reinforcement when checking something of the “to-do” list. We also had to choose ideas for our class project, which was nerve-wracking. Having to commit to a project topic is always challenging for me and I end up worrying and doubting myself more than I need to. I went with backing up and retrieving data and files to cloud storage. Working in IT I find myself saying a lot to end users, with this project maybe I can facilitate the process. I am excited about the course and hope that the lack of teaching experience is not something that makes this assignment more challenging.
