Post nine!

          Post  9 . . . and nothing is fine. Sleep has become an old memory and it is starting to feel strange when anxiety is not through the roof. This week the was theme concept was social media in learning. I am a somewhat regular user of social media. However, is mainly use Instagram and Facebook to stay in touch with friends. This week I took the leap and made a personal twitter account.  I opted to create my own instead of using the class account to embrace the idea of a new platform as it might be useful in the future.

        Personally, I would not incorporate this medium in the classroom because it is not easy enough to be in control while allowing the student to be using twitter or other social media. With older students it might seem like a better idea but still has many disadvantages. I would opt to use collaborative sheets on google sheets as shown in this video here. Another more sophisticated option would be to use a web forum also provided by Google suite as can be seen in this video here. this can be a more controlled environment and can be safer and less exposed to distractions or inappropriate content. Lastly, it feels less forced than trying to apply a technology that was intended for another purpose in mind into the classroom. However, I am sure that I am only seeing this through the eyes of the novice instructional designer and have much to learn and might even change my mind later.
