Week seven!

I have wanted to be a teacher for a long time. I knew I wanted to do so when I began volunteering at our community parish. After this week in class and the lesson planning activity, I realize it is not as fun as it seems. This weeks activity was my first experience writing out anything resembling a lesson plan(I'm not even so sure I did it right).  The amount of work that goes into planning just a short activity is exhausting, and teachers get so little time to plan! when do they do it all?!?!?
We had the task of creating a lesson plan and along with it cross-referencing it with the ISTE student standards. Since my activity was catered to early elementary school students I checked with a district technology plan to try to form realistic expecations for my lesson. Using that gave me an idea of where to head with the lesson. I think the hardest part of formulating a lesson plan is the amount of room for error. There is so much information out there that even after all these readings I felt so lost.  I tried to challenge myself by choosing a target audience that is not the one I work with since I mostly deal with adults. I definitely felt at a disadvantage compared to my classmates who are teachers. For now, its time refill on coffee, tackle next weeks work and try to make it to spring break!
